This book makes studying the endgame easy. It starts out with a problem test. Unless you are already strong in the endgame, expect to do badly. But after studying the endgame-tesuji problems in Part Two and the endgame-calculation problems in Part Three, you should have no trouble scoring close to % on this test.   Possibly the content of this page, if it turns out to be useful, should be merged with Recommended Intermediate Books. No book recommendations but Neil Moffats website is here and quite good for starting out. Manny rated it liked it Shelves: Indeed many tesuji reappear under different functions without their critical properties highlighted.   The tesuji book reminds me quite a bit of the Lee Changho Tesuji books. See All Buying Options. I think having items sent direct from Taobao or tmall is possible, and from what I have heard the boiks prices are more reasonable. The book divides the tesuji into chapters on when to apply them, not just how they work. (Example: Chapter 2 is "Capture the Cutting Stones," Chapter 13 is "Making Shape") This format has been great for me to learn and I've been able to use these in my games/5(25). The book can be heavy Some tesuji (tactics) can be recognised and immediately played in-game.

However many others require more subtle execution Tesuji book are harder to recognise in-game; unfortunately this book describes those mostly by example and it's up to /5.

This book introduces the basic tesuji which are the foundation for becoming stronger at go. After reading this book, you will be armed with a slew of handy weapons for vanquishing your opponents, and the game will be much more fun than it was before. The book is well written and well organized.

Each chapter is devoted to a particular tactical /5(18). Tesuji is volume 3 in the Elementary Go Series published by Ishi Press (and republished now by Kiseido). This one is by James Davies, the author of Life and Death (which is volume 4). A tesuji (手筋) is a clever Tesuji book, the best play in a local position, a skillful move. Tesuji is derived from suji (筋), which means "line of play". The opposite of tesuji is zokusuji, which can be translated as "crude line of play", and also referred to as anti-suji, or a vulgar move depending on the situation.

A Survey is thorough but a bit unconventional compared to, say, Tesuji book Tesuji in that the tesujis in this book are organized using their ordinary move names [e.g. 'the hane', 'the attachment' etc.] rather than the more common, fancier terminology [e.g.

The first chapter is about reading, and it talks about how to go about approching tactical situations, including a wonderful example showing why you shouldn't play moves in a vain.

The aim of this book is to make the high kyu-level player aware of the various tesujis that can arise in their games. Once this awareness is achieved, the reader will want to test this newly acquired ability in a more practical setting. A good follow-up book is K Tesuji : Richard Bozulich.

I like Kiseido's latest Tesuji book - "A Survey of the Basic Tesuji" - I've worked through it a couple of times. " Tesuji" is good too. Get Strong at Attacking covers an often neglected phase of go: attacking in the middle game. Accurate analysis, spotting tesujis, and killing or rescuing stones are the backbone of middle-game strength. But creating or finding vulnerable stones, then attacking them correctly is an equally important technique and one that many amateurs are deficient in.
