This book makes studying the endgame easy. It starts out with a problem test. Unless you are already strong in the endgame, expect to do badly. But after studying the endgame-tesuji problems in Part Two and the endgame-calculation problems in Part Three, you should have no trouble scoring close to % on this test. Possibly the content of this page, if it turns out to be useful, should be merged with Recommended Intermediate Books. The book divides the tesuji into chapters on when to apply them, not just how they work. (Example: Chapter 2 is "Capture the Cutting Stones," Chapter 13 is "Making Shape") This format has been great for me to learn and I've been able to use these in my games/5(25). I don't really have any particularly good books to list other than that. The book Tesuji in the same series was fairly good, and I did enjoy reading Invincible, and I kinda enjoyed the idea behind Direction of play, but all that pales in comparison to Attack&Defense.
